
Joel Brown
Joel Brown is a dedicated electrical engineer based out of Amarillo, TX, with a passion for innovation and problem solving in the Texas and New Mexico regions. Joel grew up all over the world, but found his passion for engineering right here at West Texas A&M University. He is the proud father of his daughter Sophia and enjoys hanging out in Palo Duro Canyon or out on the golf course.
Joel graduated with a Bachelor’s of Science in Mechanical Engineering from West Texas A&M University in 2011. Soon after, he got a job with Xcel Energy where he started learning what electricity really is. Working and learning alongside his coworker, Steven, he earned his Professional Engineering license in Electrical Power in 2016. Soon after in 2017, Joel partnered with Steven and joined Panhandle Power Engineers to help support local electricians with any and all commercial and industrial project needs.
Outside of his professional endeavors, Joel is an active member in the local community. He has been a board member for a local non-profit, Fill With Hope, and has been supporting them in different efforts since 2015.
With the passing of Steven in November 2024, Joel continues Steven’s legacy with Yellow City Engineering.

Steven Hudson is a dedicated electrical engineer based out of Amarillo, TX, with a passion for innovation and problem-solving in the Texas Panhandle region. Steven Hudson grew up in Lubbock, Texas and married Serena in 2004 before moving to Amarillo in 2007. He’s the proud father of four—Elena, Ian, Cole and Garrett—enjoys traveling and the outdoors.
Steven graduated with a Bachelor’s of Science in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Baylor University in 2004. He got his first industry job that same year with Schneider Electric, and moved on to XCEL Energy in 2007. He specialized in SPS Plant Design until 2012 when he made the switch to Area Engineering.
Never one to rest on his laurels, Steven continued to deepen his knowledge and received a Master’s Degree in Systems and Engineering Management from Texas Tech in 2013. In 2017, he decided to leverage his decades of experience and education into his own company, Panhandle Power Engineers.
